David Simmons Biography

Born into a musical family in Detroit, Michigan, Dave was exposed early on to various musical genres. With elder brothers and sisters who grew up among the Motown Family and the musical influences of his Parent's Trinidadian roots, the foundation of Dave's musical talent was cultivated early.

	By the age of 15, Dave was touring the US with his brother-in-law's steel drum orchestra, "21st Century" as an opening act for the Great Liberace. At 19, Dave and his brothers’ formed a band in Miami called "Force" which performed original compositions and covers of many genres and styles. From there he moved on to work with a variety of original and cover bands in styles ranging from funk, rock and top 40 to contemporary jazz.

With an intense desire to continually improve upon his drumming, Dave continued to work with a variety of musicians and bands and fine tune his skills through studio sessions and national tours. During this time he began to focus on composing songs and developing a broad understanding of music production techniques. Using the wealth of knowledge that he acquired in the studio, Dave put together a touring rig that allowed him to trigger percussion sounds and an unlimited number of special effects live on stage, which ultimately led him to form his signature sound.

	Dave's ongoing commitment to drumming and music has landed him an abundance of studio sessions and international tours with acts such as Deborah Gibson, Julian Marley, KC & The Sunshine Band, Lauren Hill, Billy Crystal, The Drifters, Rob Z , Blowfly, The Marvelettes, Javier, Inner Circle, The Marley Boys (Ghetto Youths), Martika and Brian Howe of Bad Company.

Fresh off of a world tour with Kymani Marley and opening for Van Halen, Dave is currently drumming, producing and recording with a variety of local and international artists, while working on his own projects.
